nothing doing
How often is too often
Rhythm beats volume, long sessions have a ceiling, and there's one warning sign worth taking seriously.
There's no correct schedule. There is a shape that keeps showing up, and a couple of failure modes worth avoiding.
The shape that works
Two or three sessions a week, with days off between them. Thirty to sixty minutes each.
That's it. That's the whole recommendation, and it's less than most guys expect.
Longer isn't better
Sessions have a ceiling, and past it you're not practising, you're waiting.
The useful part of a session is the stretch where you're relaxed and paying attention. Once you're fidgeting, checking the time, or grimly hanging on because you've decided two hours is dedication, you've stopped training the thing and started training frustration.
Forty-five minutes of properly relaxed beats three hours of determined. Every time.
If you want a number, the one long-time practitioners converge on is about ninety minutes as an outer limit. Past that the reports stop being about pleasure and start being about swelling and a sore morning after, particularly from men who stacked two or three long sessions into one week.
Nobody has measured that either. But it's the same number from two communities that don't talk to each other, which is worth more than one confident blog.
Too often looks like this
Watch for any of these:
- Sessions feel duller each time rather than the same
- You're sore afterwards, or the next day
- You're doing it out of obligation rather than wanting to
- You've started resenting it
All four mean back off. Take three or four days. The most common report after doing that is that things came back better than before.
The explanation experienced men give for that is simple enough to be worth repeating: feelings wear off. Give your body the same input often enough and it adjusts to it, and the thing you're chasing here is subtle to begin with β it doesn't survive being made ordinary. A gap is how it gets to be novel again.
Nobody has measured that either. But it's the same reason your favourite song survives being played weekly and not hourly.
The thing men do instead of resting
Buy something.
A flat stretch feels like an equipment problem, so the instinct is a new toy. Worth knowing what actually happens when they do.
The same story runs the other way too: men whose favourite toy stops delivering after a good run, which is the habituation above rather than a fault in the thing they own.
Neither is an argument against ever buying anything. It's an argument against buying something because you are stuck, which is the most expensive way to take a rest day.
The warning sign that isn't about frequency
Pelvic pain conditions are real, they're treatable, and pelvic floor physios exist and are good at this. Nobody will be surprised by why you're there.
What about ordinary wanking
You'll read strong opinions that you must abstain completely. Treat those with suspicion.
Some guys find a few days without makes sessions more responsive. Others find enforced abstinence just makes them tense and preoccupied, which is exactly the state that blocks everything.
Try it your way. It's a variable to experiment with, not a rule to obey, and your log is where you'll find out which camp you're in.
The honest summary
You cannot force the pace by doing more. Nobody has ever reported grinding their way through this.
Fewer, calmer, better-rested sessions is the whole play.
