The Flared Base Rule

Anything you put inside your anus must have a flared base, a handle, or a retrieval ring. There is no exception to this and no toy worth breaking it for.

The reason is anatomical rather than cautionary. The vagina is a closed space with a natural stopping point. The rectum is not. It continues into the colon, and the muscles of the anal canal move in a way that draws objects further in rather than pushing them back out. An object without a backstop can travel past the point where you can reach it, and retrieving it becomes a hospital visit rather than a private problem.

A flared base is wider than the widest part of the toy and sits flat against your body. A handle works too, as long as it is long enough to stay outside. Household objects almost never meet this standard, which is the main reason not to use them.

If something does go further in than you can reach, do not go hunting for it with anything else and do not try to bear down repeatedly. Go to urgent care. This is a common and routine thing for them to deal with, and delay makes it worse rather than less embarrassing.
